HPRA-LA Scholarship Program Taking Applications

The Hispanic Public Relations Association, Los Angeles chapter (HPRA-LA) is accepting applications for the 2018 Scholarship Program. This year, they will award a total of 5 scholarships of $2,500 each to benefit undergraduate and graduate students pursuing their degrees in the fields of PR, advertising/marketing, journalism or related communications majors. Eligible students in the Los Angeles area are encouraged to apply.

All applications are due Friday, May 25, 2018. Scholarship applications can be found at https://bit.ly/2I5X8wm.

HPRA-LA recognizes the hard work and determination that comes with being a student of Hispanic descent especially given the increasing cost of attending an accredited college or university. Since the initiation of the program, HPRA-LA has awarded close to $275,000 to students with the intention of aiding with tuition and related expenses.  HPRA-LA strives to assist Hispanic students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievements and involvement in the Hispanic community.

“The marketing industry is still facing a significant lack of diversity among corporate and agency PR teams,” said Stephen Chavez, president of the HPRA-LA chapter.
“HPRA-LA is dedicated to supporting these deserving students to ensure that talented Latino students continue to break through and enter the communications field.”

HPRA also offers scholarship recipients a complimentary annual membership, providing students with networking and educational opportunities to meet with professionals in the PR/Marketing and journalism world. Professional Panels, education, networking, job and internship opportunities are all readily available through the HPRA membership.
