Univision partners with Twentieth Century Fox for the release of Rio 2

Univision Communications Inc. (UCI) announced that it is partnering with Twentieth Century Fox for the release of Rio 2, the upcoming 3D computer-animated musical adventure-comedy film. The movie, which opens April 11 in the U.S., will be organically integrated in an episode of Hispanic TV’s longest-running and most popular reality beauty competition, “Nuestra Belleza Latina” (Our Latin Beauty), airing this Sunday, March 23.

In addition to the “Nuestra Belleza Latina” integration, Rio 2 will be featured throughout Univision’s digital platforms including a themed take-over of the Univision Homepage on desktop and mobile on the film’s release date. Targeted roadblocks will also be featured cross-platform. Rio 2 is also being supported by a Univision Radio Network campaign the week of release.

“Our partnership with industry leader Twentieth Century Fox is part of our ongoing focus on the film and entertainment space,” said Keith Turner, President, Advertising Sales and Marketing. “We’ll continue to provide new and interesting ways to reach the Hispanic consumer, the No. 1 movie going demographic in the country.”

“We are very pleased to be partnering with Univision.  The ‘Rio’ pictures are among our Studio’s most beloved properties, and we’re giving the new film a huge launch, of which this partnership is a key component,” said Michelle Marks, executive vice president of Media Promotions at Twentieth Century Fox.

As part of the ‘Nuestra Belleza Latina’ integration, this week’s challenge will feature the contestants recording voice-overs for various characters from the animated movie, Rio 2. Each contestant will alter her voice and accent to best match the characters in the film. The winner of this challenge will attend the Rio 2 Premiere Party in Miami and get the opportunity to interview the stars of the movie as they walk the Blue Carpet.
