Burson Marstellar Selected as PR Agency For Latin Grammys.

Burson-Marsteller has been selected as the Public Relations agency for the 2nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards, it was announced by Recording Academy and Latin Recording Academy President/CEO Michael Greene.

“Miami is the Latin music hub, and no one knows the Miami scene or has a feel for the community like a local agency,” said Greene. “Burson-Marsteller’s predominant entertainment expertise, Latin American presence and Miami profile make them an ideal communications partner for this year’s Latin GRAMMY Awards. We are looking forward to a successful working relationship.”

Burson-Marsteller is the largest strategic communications firm in Florida and Latin America. Miami is the firm’s headquarters for Latin America and serves as an important hub for both U.S. Hispanic and Latin America client-related work. In addition, Burson-Marsteller Miami is the base for the firm’s client engagements in the State of Florida. Burson-Marsteller’s Managing Director for Florida, Jorge Ortega, will serve as the client leader on the Latin GRAMMYs.

“It is an honor for us to be selected as the agency for such an important event in our community,” said Ortega. “Our entire team is thrilled to be part of this historical event that will reach millions of people around the world.”

This year’s Latin GRAMMYs will highlight 39 categories covering many genres and sub-genres of Latin music. Nominations for the Latin GRAMMY Awards will be announced in mid-July. The weeks leading up to the Latin GRAMMY Awards will feature a month-long Latin GRAMMY Fest – a celebration which will showcase the vitality, quality and diversity of the Miami and Latin cultural communities. Latin GRAMMY Fest events will be produced by local non-profit organizations and will include concerts, educational events, exhibits, performances, workshops and receptions.

The 2nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will be broadcast domestically by the CBS Television Network from 9-11 p.m. (EDT & PDT). The network will also distribute the show internationally through CBS Broadcast International. Last year’s show marked the first time a largely Spanish-language program was aired in prime time in the United States, and its successful reach, prestige value and unique musical content was a powerful addition to the network’s offerings. Also, Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation and Westwood One will partner with the Latin Recording Academy to maximize their creative resources and produce a series of syndicated specials for HBC’s radio broadcast. In addition to its partnership with HBC, Westwood One will have exclusive international radio broadcast rights.
