ICOM (International Communications Agency Network, Inc.), one of
the world’s largest independent advertising agency networks, elected new officers to lead the $3 billion network for the next two years. Franco Sotomayor, CEO, Premier Maldonado & Associates, San Juan, Puerto Rico, becomes the next president, and Guillermo Garcia, chairman, Adformatix, Manila, Philippines, has been named VP.

The new officers were announced during ICOM’s three-day annual global meeting. The officers are elected from among the board of directors, comprised of two members from each of four geographic regions. Sotomayor will lead a network that has $3 billion in billings and more than 70 member agencies in 40+ countries. The network offers a full range of integrated marketing and media communications services.

Major initiatives of the new officers will include recruiting agencies in key markets in Latin America and Asia, where previous agency members were lost when they were acquired by multinationals. Sotomayor said filling out the network will begin immediately.

ICOM was founded in 1950 as the National Federation of Advertising Agencies and became the International Federation of Advertising Agencies, Inc., in 1980.
