Radio Unica Buys M.A.S.S. Promotions.

Radio Unica announced the acquisition of the assets of Miami-based MASS Promotions (“MASS”) and related companies that provides promotions and merchandising services to clients targeting the Hispanic market. The acquisition expands Radio Unica’s capabilities into event marketing, in-store promotions, product merchandising and direct mail.

Joaquin F. Blaya, Chairman and CEO of Radio Unica Communications Corp., commented, “Although a difficult quarter for the industry, we were still able to grow revenue in the first quarter by approximately 14%, excluding revenue from our broadcast of the Copa Oro soccer tournament in 2000. We are beginning to see some improvement in the advertising environment, including the addition of several important new network advertisers as well as recurring clients increasing their commitments over last year. We are still projecting to grow our second quarter and our full year 2001 revenue from our radio group by 12-15%.”

Mr. Blaya continued, “Our acquisition of MASS represents a very logical and efficient avenue for expanding our marketing capabilities. The added services and products we now offer allow Unica to provide agencies and clients with a stronger means of reaching the fast-growing Hispanic markets that we serve. Our ongoing audience research, as well as the high volume of listeners that consistently call in live tell us that Radio Unica’s brand is growing among U.S. Hispanics. Our approach to integrated marketing is similar to that of the general radio market, where promotional events and targeted merchandising campaigns are natural extensions to radio campaigns. MASS will immediately contribute to our revenues and EBITDA. In addition, we still have approximately $32 million in cash and remain well-funded to continue to implement our business plan.”
