CubanTime.

A full-color book that will be treasured for years to come will celebrate the Cuban-American community and its lifestyle. Written by Giselle Balido, an experienced Cuban-American writer and journalist, CubanTime is a sensitive and comprehensive documentation of the contributions and achievements of Cuban-Americans during the past 40 years. The book’s photographs by C. M. Guerrero, an award-winning photojournalist for El Nuevo Herald, beautifully complement the narration in English and Spanish.

Cuban singing sensation Celia Cruz also contributed to the success of the book by writing its foreword. Other chapters feature Cuban celebrities, cuisine, lifestyle, business leaders and traditional Miami events such as Cuba Nostalgia and Cultural Fridays at Calle Ocho.

The book will be officially launched on Thursday, November 8, 2001.

According to author Giselle Balido, “CubanTime is not a political book but a publication that captures the vibrant spirit of the Cuban people; it is a loving celebration of the Cuban exiles’ successful transplanting of their culture, heart and soul, to American soil. She adds that, “It is, in no way, a comprehensive history of the Cuban exile experience, which is so rich and diverse that it becomes impossible to encompass it in the pages of a single work. It is, instead, a heartfelt tribute to the many remarkable achievements of Cuban-Americans in their adopted homeland.”
