Rhythms of L.A.

After museum hours, dance the night away in the beautiful grand foyer and adjoining mammal halls of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. The Rhythms of L.A. is an evening of live music and dance that represents L.A.’s rhythmic history and diversity. Featuring Los Angeles’ own music and dance styles from Samba, Salsa and Tap, to Moroccan, Funk, Jazz, Techno and Electronica, Hip-Hop, New Orleans R&B and Tango. The evening features a special tribute to L.A. jazz legend Buddy Collette. Free Salsa dance lessons kick off the night at 7:30 p.m.

* Frit and Frat Fuller (KIN Dance Co.)

* Hip-Hop with former Laker girl Eleni Calevas’ group Da Bling Bling Thangs

* Tango dancer Moti Buchboot

* Tap dancer, Chance Taylor

* Jubilent Voices Gospel Trio

* The Men of the Big Bamboo — house band that features current and former members of the Tonight Show, Rod Stewart, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Wonder and Miles Davis groups

* Guitarist Omar Torrez

* Brazilian songstress Flavia de Mellow

* Middle Eastern drummers Alex Spurkel, Avi Sills, and Giesan Varne

* Special appearance by Buddy Collette and a musical tribute to the Stars of Swing.
