Con Ed Celebrates Multicultural Diversity In New York.

Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) sounds off on multicultural diversity at African American and Hispanic radio stations throughout New York with music commercials spanning pop, salsa, hip-hop, reggae, mariachi, and African rhythms.

“These unique music commercials celebrate cultural harmony,” said Mary S. McCartney, director of corporate communications at Con Edison. “It gives Con Edison the opportunity to salute some of New York’s diverse cultures and nationalities through the language of music and our diverse workforce.”

Created by UniWorld Group, these 60-second commercials deftly key into African American and Hispanic cultures through a spectrum of music forms. The African American commercial takes listeners through a segue of pop, funk, rhythm & blues, dance, hip-hop, reggae, calypso, and African rhythms. It was composed by veteran musician-composer-arranger Billy ‘Spaceman’ Patterson.

Argentina-born Alberto Bengolea, the president of MusicWave, created a radio commercial with a Latin-flavored mix that spins from salsa to mariachi to tango to bullfighting music.
