AlleyCat News To Honor Top Minority Entrepreneurs.

Leading executives of minority-owned technology companies will be honored at AlleyCat News’ Minority Entrepreneurs Dinner and Venture Fair on March 21, 2001 at Windows on the World, located at the NY Marriott World Trade Center in New York City.

“Minority entrepreneurs such as Omar Wasow, Cecelia Pagkalinawan, and Benjamin Sun have emerged as role models for minority entrepreneurs in Silicon Alley, nationally and even internationally,” said Janet Stites, CEO and Publisher of AlleyCat News. “They have made sure minorities have a voice in the business of and on the World Wide Web. As the Internet and technology in general become more and more integral to our lives, it is imperative everyone has a presence in the business and visibility in its content.

“This year’s Minority Entrepreneurs Dinner and Venture Fair, a follow-up to last year’s incredibly popular event, will offer an opportunity to celebrate the heroic work of these entrepreneurs, provide a forum for peer-to-peer advice and help to facilitate valuable relationships.”

Venture Capitalists from over 20 leading firms from throughout the region including TL Ventures, RRE Ventures, Grand Central Holdings and Hearst Interactive Ventures, will mingle with the crowd during the pre-dinner Venture Fair and cocktail hour. Entrepreneurs looking for funding are encouraged to bring their business plans and have intimate one-on-one networking with these top investors.

During dinner, Jayson Blair and Amy Harmon, technology reporters of The New York Times, will moderate a panel of entrepreneurs and investors who will discuss success strategies for raising capital and building a business. Confirmed panelists include: Valerie Brown, Principal, TL Ventures, Sandeep Thakrar, Principal, Katalyst and Omar Wasow, Executive Director, BlackPlanet.com and Internet Analyst for MSNBC and WNBC.
