ANA Awards To Honor Excellence In Multicultural Advertising.

The Association of National Advertisers (ANA) has opened a call for entries for its annual Multicultural Excellence Awards. The Awards, now in its third year, recognize ANA member companies that have produced outstanding multicultural advertising campaigns during the past year. The ANA represents over 330 of the nation’s largest corporate marketers.

“Since we started the Multicultural Excellence Awards in 2001, we have witnessed the number of entries steadily rise and also become more diverse. Last year ANA members nominated more than 125 campaigns,” said Gilbert Davila, vice president, multicultural marketing, Walt Disney Company, and chair of ANA’s Multicultural Marketing Committee. “This demonstrates that corporations view multicultural campaigns not so much as a politically correct thing to do but rather as an important value-added discipline that drives real growth and market share.”

This year’s award recipients will be recognized during a special ceremony at ANA’s Multicultural Marketing Conference, November 2-4, 2003, at The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne (Miami), Florida. Awards will be presented in four categories: African-American, Asian, Hispanic and General Market. All entries in these categories will be judged on creativity and relevance. In addition, the ANA is introducing a new optional award category to honor a “Multicultural Campaign With Significant Results.”

All entries must be submitted to the ANA no later than August 15, 2003. Eligibility is limited to campaigns created for ANA member companies that ran in the United States between June 2002 and May 2003. ANA member companies’ advertising agencies may submit campaigns on their behalf. For further information and entry forms, visit http://www.ana.net/awards/.

The awards are sponsored by the ANA Multicultural Marketing Committee. The committee, which was established in 1998, helps ANA members share knowledge and best practices in marketing to America’s burgeoning ethnic markets. A portion of the proceeds collected from the awards submission fees will be used to help fund scholarships for high-potential multicultural students who plan to pursue careers in advertising and/or marketing.

Multicultural Marketing Resources, Inc., publisher of MMRNews and The Source Book of Multicultural Experts is also a proud supporter of the ANA Multicultural Excellence Awards and the Multicultural Marketing Conference. All those who attend the conference will receive a complimentary copy of The Source Book of Multicultural Experts.
