Association For Women In Communications: Technology Tools You Can Use Today and Tomorrow Seminar.

Communications professionals and students who want to learn how to research on the Web like a pro, increase media coverage by using the Internet and find out how wireless technology can simplify their lives should plan to attend “the only constant is change — Technology Tools You Can Use Today and Tomorrow,” sponsored by the Association for Women in Communications, Seattle Professional Chapter, Wednesday, April 4.

The half-day seminar will run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the University of Washington Center for Urban Horticulture, located at 3501 N.E. 41st St., in Seattle. The cost for members is $95, including a networking breakfast, seminar and lunch. Non-members pay $135 and students, $35.

Three morning sessions will provide excellent information for Internet users by practicing experts. They include Jennifer Lucas, Electronic Resources Librarian for the King County Library System, presenting “Researching on the Web More Effectively;” Sandi Sonnenfeld, Media Relations Director at Publicis Dialog, presenting “How to Increase Media Coverage with an Online Newsroom;” Melinda Smith, Senior Business Development Manager, and Rebecca Snyder, Director, Wireless Product Management, both of InfoSpace, Inc. who will present “Going Wireless Without Worry.”

The luncheon will include a keynote address by Jonathan Cluts, Group Manager for the Prototyping Team at Microsoft Corp., who will discuss how technology will change our homes, offices and lifestyles in the future in a presentation entitled, “How Will Technology Change Your Life Tomorrow?”

During lunch, AWC will present the first-ever Communicator of the Year award to a professional who has demonstrated high achievement in communications, and the Georgina McDougall Davis Founders Award to an AWC member for significant contributions to the organization and the communications industry. AWC will also present several scholarships to college-level students.
