California Chicano News Media Journalism Job Fair In Los Angeles.

The California Chicano News Media Association will hold its 23rd Annual Journalism Opportunities Conference (JOC), the largest annual multicultural journalism job fair on the West Coast, Oct. 4-6, 2001 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

Representatives from nearly 65 media companies, as well as university graduate journalism programs, will hold interviews for internships and full-time jobs.

Among the newspaper companies that are expected to attend are the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, the San Jose Mercury News, the Orange County Register and the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Among the broadcast companies are KABC-TV, KNBC-TV, KCBS-TV, KTLA-TV, KMEX-TV, Fox Television Stations and Telemundo Television Stations.

The job fair is co-sponsored by the Black Journalists Assn. of Southern California, the Los Angles Chapter of the Asian American Journalists Assn. and the USC Annenberg School of Journalism.

Writer and filmmaker Jesus Salvador Trevino, currently co-executive producer of the Showtime dramatic series “Resurrection Boulevard,” will be the keynote luncheon speaker on Friday Oct. 5, 2001 at noon.
