El Nuevo Herald Sponsor Diversity Career Fair On December 4.

For several thousand professionals from all communities and more than 30 leading local and national employers, opportunity comes in the form of the Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald-sponsored NAACP Diversity Career Fair which will take place from 11:30 am until 5:30 pm on Tuesday, December 4 at the Miami Convention Center.

Taking advantage of the local talent will be recruiters from ADT Security Services, AT&T Wireless, AVX Corporation, Best Buy Co., Blockbuster, Broward Sheriff’s Office, Burger King Corporation, Drug Enforcement Agency, ECOLAB, Eli Lilly & Company, Florida Power & Light, Fort Lauderdale Police Department, GlaxoSmithKline, Honeywell, Innovex, Joint Strike Fighter, Liberty Mutual, Merck, MetroPCS, Miami-Dade County Corrections & Rehabilitation, The Miami Herald/El Nuevo Herald, Northrop Grumman, Philip Morris USA, RentWay, Siemens Westinghouse Power Corporation, Starbucks Coffee Company, U.S. Department of State, Verizon Wireless, Wal-Mart Stores and many more.

“People need jobs, and our career fair fills that need while simultaneously addressing the diversity of this 21st century city,” according to Shomex President Lewis Shomer. A longtime leader in promoting equal employment opportunities, the NAACP is on the cutting edge of efforts to expand diversity throughout corporate America. Shomer says, “Companies have come to realize that diversity is no longer a concept without definition in today’s society. It is a pragmatic reality and vital to the success of any business.”

This event is presented by the NAACP Region V and the NAACP Miami Branch and is also sponsored by Yahoo! Careers, IDG Recruitment Solutions, Merck and Verizon Wireless. Partnering with the NAACP Career Fair to promote workforce diversity are the Latin American Chamber of Commerce of USA (CAMACOL), League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering, Inc. (NACME), the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) and the National Society of Hispanic MBAs (NSHMBAs).

The event will kick off at 11:30 am with a free seminar entitled, “How to Make the Most of a Career Fair” presented by Angelia Bloomfield, Regional HR Manager for ADT Security Services. Admission is free to qualified candidates, who will have from 12:30 until 5:30 pm to meet with prospective employers.
