Minorities In Business Magazine 2001 Multi-Cultural Prism Awards.

Minorities in Business Magazine will honor a variety of individuals with Awards at the Sixth Annual Multi-Cultural Prism Awards Gala 2001, presented on Friday, October 19, 2001, at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, located at 9500 Wilshire Boulevard, Beverly Hills, CA. As the recipients of the Prism awards, individuals will be recognized for their contributions in business, entertainment, sports, media, art, music, education, politics, and community service.

The purpose of the Prism Awards is to spotlight and honor the successes of the multi-cultural business community. The ceremony recognizes outstanding achievements by entrepreneurs, corporations and corporate executives, highlighting the exceptional, visionary, and inspirational work of minorities and women.

The event will bring 850 local, regional, and national corporate executives, entrepreneurs, celebrities, political and community leaders, and members of the media together to focus on bringing diverse voices, outlooks, and talents to the marketplace. In addition, it will benefit the DangerMan Education Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes literacy for children in urban America.

Comedian/actor Tommy Davidson and actress Elizabeth Peña will co-host this year’s Multi-Cultural Prism Awards Gala, which will also feature a silent auction, a performance by recording artist Jubilant Sykes, and a World Art exhibit and special appearance by Billy Dee Williams. Guests at the event will be treated to remarks from award presenters, recipients, and inspiring individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds, industries, and perspectives. The highlight of the evening will be the keynote address by Dr. Mae C. Jemison, the first woman of color to travel into space, the recipient of The Publisher’s Award, and the embodiment of the event’s theme: To Fly With Eagles—”Celebrating Courage Through Excellence.”
