This year’s convention theme is “e-Transforming Hispanic Business for Success” focusing on the emergence of technology and what it means for the growth and survival of Hispanic businesses.

“With the emergence of new technology, this year’s Convention will inform the Hispanic business community about the state-of-the-art tools, resources and opportunities to expand their business from a local to a global market,” said George Herrera, President and CEO of the USHCC. “The state of Georgia, on its way to becoming the next hub for Hispanics and where the Hispanic population has grown significantly, is a prime location for our convention where major corporations such as Delta Air Lines and The Coca-Cola Company are based.”

The USHCC Convention will include the Third Annual Economic Development Town Hall Meeting led by Georgia Governor Roy E. Barnes and Governors from across the country; a Hispanic Businesswomen’s Luncheon; and a two-day business expo with more than 200 exhibitors which include Hispanic and international enterprises, and Fortune 500 companies; and government agencies from across the country. The expo will also feature Procurement and Workforce Diversity Pavilions where participants can meet one-on-one with public and private sector representatives.

In addition, on September 19, 2001, the USHCC Foundation will host its Inaugural Golf Classic at the Heritage Golf Club. This year’s Golf Classic Chairman is Carl Ware, Executive Vice President, Public Affairs and Administration at The Coca-Cola Company. Following the Golf Classic is a three-day BizFest for young entrepreneurs during the Convention activities. Proceeds from the Inaugural Golf Classic will benefit the USHCC Foundation Youth Entrepreneurship Program.

The four-day Convention will conclude with the USHCC National Awards Banquet and Gala honoring the successes and achievements of Hispanic businesses.

The USHCC represents the interests of more than 1.2 million Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States and Puerto Rico, which earn more than $200 billion annually. It serves as the umbrella organization for more than 200 local Hispanic chambers nationwide, and it actively promotes the economic growth and development of Hispanic entrepreneurs.
