Telemundo announces Education Week.

Telemundo announced the launch of a week devoted entirely to the subject of education under its public service campaign “El Poder de Saber.” Beginning Sunday, September 25. and throughout the week, Telemundo will air special programs and reports dedicated to raising awareness among Latinos about the importance of education including live broadcasts from New York, the presentation of a study on the keys to success and a town hall from California State University, San Bernardino.

Education Week will open with a one-hour special of “Enfoque con José Díaz-Balart,” which will air live from Education Plaza in New York’s Rockefeller Plaza on Sunday, September 25 at 11:25amET / 10:25C.

On Monday and Tuesday, September 26 and 27, “Noticiero Telemundo con José Díaz-Balart” will also air live from New York at 6:30pm ET / 5:30C. In addition, the network’s news oriented programs, such as “Levántate,” “Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste” and “Noticiero Telemundo,” will feature stories dealing with education from different angles, including a focus on the keys to academic success. Among the questions to be answered are, “What are the resources offered by the government and universities to obtain scholarships?” “How can we stop Hispanic students from dropping out of school?” “What is the professor’s role and how can we get more Hispanics to dedicate themselves to education?

“Noticiero Telemundo” will feature a daily segment “La Receta del Éxito” (“Recipe for Success”), based on a study conducted exclusively for Telemundo by Doctor Carlos Nevarez, Director of the Doctorate in Educational Leadership Program at California State University, San Bernardino, which details the 22 steps needed to succeed in education. Every one of these steps has been specifically tailored to the needs and lifestyle of Hispanics living in the United States.

Education Week culminates on Sunday, October 2 at 11:25am ET / 10:25C, when José Díaz-Balart will host “Enfoque” from California State University with a town hall to discuss the crisis in education among the Hispanic population within the framework of “The Feria Educativa College & Career Fair.” The objective of this town hall, with the participation of community leaders, is to inform and motivate the Hispanic audience to continue university studies by analyzing each phase of education.

The town hall will be presented in five segments that encompass a general portrait of education among Hispanics, early childhood and Elementary School, Middle and High School, post secondary education and the segment “Sí se puede” (“Yes We Can”) a guide to motivate Hispanics to complete an education.
