American Heart Association – Raising The Awareness Among Hispanics.

SWG&M Advertising Inc. announced it will become the agency of record for the Texas affiliate of the American Heart Association (AHA).

The agency’s primary assignment will be to raise awareness about heart disease among Hispanic women 20-49 through a comprehensive advertising and outreach campaign.

“Hispanic women are the gatekeepers for the health of their families. They are also increasingly at risk for heart disease, and it is crucial we reach out to them and make them aware of these risks by developing programs specifically designed to meet their needs and the needs of their families,” said Kari Short, communications chair for the Texas affiliate of the AHA. “SWG&M has extensive experience in both healthcare and marketing to Hispanic audiences. A relationship with SWG&M is a great fit for our goals, and we are extremely excited about this new partnership.”

The Hispanic initiative is part of a wider program by the AHA to more specifically target key audiences, especially women.
SWG&M expects to launch its campaign for the AHA in the Spring of 2003. The agency plans to produce and place television spots for the AHA, as well as assist the Association with research, messaging, community outreach and other communications needs.
