New Regional Mexican music artist tops finalist list: Lupillo Rivera is a finalist in six categories for the Billboard Latin Music Awards including Regional Mexican Album of the Year, Airplay Track of the Year and New Artist. Juan Gabriel honored as a finalist in five categories including Songwriter of the Year and Hot Latin Track of the Year categories, and Marco Antonio Solis honored in four categories including Hot Latin Track Artist of the Year Hot Latin Track of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Pop Male Album of the Year.

Pop Female Singer Jaci Velasquez is a finalist for Hot Latin Track of theYear, Pop Female album of the Year and Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year. Jennifer Lopez and Gloria Estefan are finalists for Latin Dance Maxi-Single of the Year and Latin Dance Club Play Track of the Year.

Male artists Palomo, Cristian, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Banda El Recodo are finalists in three categories each, while Ricky Martin, Vicente Fernandez, Victor Manuelle, Marc Anthony and Alejandro Fernandez are finalists in two categories. Music Groups La Ley, Manu Chao, A.B. Quintanilla Y Los Kumbia Kings, Ozomatli and Conjunto Primavera are also honored as finalists in two categories each.

This year’s new revelation, Lupillo Rivera, is a finalist in six categories including Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year and Regional Mexican Airplay Track of the Year for “Despreciado.” He will be competing against himself in the Regional Mexican Album of the Year and New Artist and Regional Mexican Album of the Year Male categories since he was honored for two albums “Despreciado” and “Sufriendo A Solas.”

Renowned singer and composer Juan Gabriel is a finalist in five Billboard Latin Music Awards categories including Songwriter of the Year and Hot Latin Track Artist of the Year. His song “Abrázame muy Fuerte” was also recognized in the categories of Hot Latin Track of the Year and Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year, while his interpretation of “No Vale La Pena” with regional Mexican artist Nydia Rojas was also recognized as Hot Latin Track of the Year, Vocal Duo.

Jaci Velásquez’s “Como se Cura Una Herida” from album titled “Mi Corazón” is a finalist in three categories including Female Pop Album of the Year, Hot Latin Track of the Year and Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year. Jennifer Lopez and Gloria Estefan each make an impact with Latin Dance music. Jennifer Lopez is a finalist in three categories including Latin Dance Club Play Track of the year for “Play,” and twice for Latin Dance Maxi-Single of the year for her tracks “I’m Real” and “Love Don’t Cost of a Thing.” Gloria Estefan’s track “Out of Nowhere” honored as a finalist in two categories for Latin Dance Maxi-Single of the Year and Latin Dance Club Play Track of the Year.

Marco Antonio Solis is a finalist in four categories including Hot Latin Track Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, Male Pop Album of the Year for “Más de mi Alma,” and Hot Latin Track of the Year for “Como se Cura una Herida.” Palomo, Banda El Recodo, Cristian and Gilberto Santa Rosa are each finalists in three categories. New artist Palomo was recognized as a finalist for Hot Latin Track of the Year, Regional Mexican Airplay Track of the Year for the song “No Me Conoces Aun”, and Regional Mexican Album of the Year, New Artist for his album “Fuerza Musical.” Banda El Recodo is a finalist in the categories of Hot Latin Track Artist of the Year, Regional Mexican Male Album of the Year and

Regional Mexican Airplay Track of the Year. Cristian was honored as a finalist in three categories including Hot Latin Track Artist of the Year, Male Pop Album of the Year, and Latin Pop Airplay Track of the Year. Finally, Gilberto Santa Rosa stands out in the Tropical/Salsa category for Male Album of the Year with “Intenso,” and Airplay Track of the Year for “Pero no me Ama,” and “Pueden Decir.”

Finalists in two categories each were Ricky Martin (Latin Greatest Hits Album of the Year, Latin Dance maxi-Single of the Year), Vicente Fernandez (Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year, Latin Greatest Hits Album of the Year), Victor Manuelle (Tropical/Salsa Airplay Track of the Year, Tropical/Salsa Male Album of the Year), Marc Anthony (Tropical Salsa Male Album of the Year, Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year), Alejandro Fernandez (Pop Album of the Year, Hot Latin Track of the Year, Vocal Duo), La Ley (Latin Rock Album of the Year, Hot Latin Track of the Year, Vocal Duo), Manu Chao (Pop Album of the Year, New Artist, Latin Rock Album of the Year), A.B.
