Outstanding Latinas To Receive Honors From el Diario / La Prensa In NYC.

el diario / LA PRENSA will host its sixth annual
“Outstanding Latinas Celebration Luncheon” on Wednesday, March 21st at The Plaza Hotel, New York City. The event will feature a reading by internationally renowned Cuban writer Mayra Montero, award – winning author of “The Last Night that I Spent with You,” and “Que felices son las Barbies,” a solo performance by actress Wanda Arriaga. Publisher & CEO of el diario / LA PRENSA will deliver the opening remarks.

The Latina women to be honored are representatives of a wide variety of expertise and interests such as law, medicine, entertainment, business, education and the arts.

“Throughout this past six years we have recognized the talent and the contributions of about 300 Latinas, and I know that there are hundreds more out there who are doing extraordinary things,” said Rossana Rosado. “I am proud that el diario has become a forum for this women to be heard, recognized and used as models for our young people.”

Among the honorees are Marta Casals Istomin, President of The Manhattan School of Music; Johanna Guerra, New Producer at Channel 47; Rosa Manzano, Dancer in Broadway’s RIVERDANCE, Hon. Lilia Munoz, Union City Municipal Court Judge; Daphne Rubin-Vega, Actress in RENT; Connie Fernandez , Assistant District Attorney for New York County; Sofia LaChapel, Anchor
Woman, WXTV Channel 41; and Dulce Reyes-Bonilla, Community Action Director, The New York Immigration Coalition. On Sunday, March 25 a commemorative supplement that includes biographical summaries and photos of the honorees will be included in a special edition of el diario / LA PRENSA.
