Telemundo ‘Corporation Of The Year’ @ MANA.

Telemundo announced it will be honored with a MANA Corporation of the Year Award, at MANA’s “Las Primeras Awards Gala” to be held this Thursday, October 13, 2005 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C. Telemundo is being recognized for its efforts to promote self-esteem among Latinas through its telenovela, La Mujer en el Espejo. The star of the show, Colombian actress Paola Rey (La Mujer en el Espejo, Pasión de Gavilanes,) will be present to receive the award and Telelmundo’s own Candela Ferro (Decisiones, Miss Universe, Tsunami Benefit) will host the event.

“We are extremely proud of this award. We certainly appreciate that a respectable organization like MANA recognizes the efforts we make to serve and reflect our community,” said Don Browne, President, Telemundo. “The self-esteem campaign in La Mujer en el Espejo is one of the many prosocial programs we present on an ongoing basis through our Community Connections department. These campaigns flow directly from our vision of creating original productions that not only highlight positive stories that are relevant to our audience, but that also provide a service to our community.”

Telemundo’s Community Connection Department, was created as part of the network’s commitment to serve, reflect, empower and inspire the Hispanic community. Serving as a bridge between non-profit organizations and program writers, the Community Connections department gathers research and creates campaigns that highlight issues that can provide a positive message and a service to the audience. These program integrated messages are also part of Telemundo’s “Hecho Para Tí” philosophy of creating original productions that reflect the experiences and needs of Hispanics in the U.S.

MANA, a National Latina Organization, is a nonprofit advocacy organization whose mission is to empower Latinas through leadership development, community service, and advocacy.
