Heineken Green Ribbon Program To Benefit Celia Cruz Foundation.

In joint statements released from the Latin Recording Academy and the Celia Cruz Foundation, it was announced that Heineken USA’s Green Ribbon initiative will be a top priority among the charitable efforts for this year’s 4th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards. Heineken Green Ribbons is a national initiative designed to raise awareness and funds for music education programs in communities across the country. As part of a collective effort with the Latin GRAMMYs and The Celia Cruz Foundation to raise awareness of this critical issue in the Hispanic community, Heineken USA will make a donation to the Celia Cruz Foundation.

The Heineken Green Ribbons program was created by Heineken USA in the spring of 2003 and raised $10,000 for the Celia Cruz Foundation. The program hopes to more than double this contribution number at the Latin GRAMMYs.

As part of this initiative, Heineken will design a special green ribbon to symbolize its commitment to music education. Members of the media, celebrities and others are encouraged to wear a special green ribbon at this year’s Latin GRAMMYs to highlight the need to support music education in our communities.

“Celia Cruz was a tireless supporter of music education in the Hispanic community,” says Marime Riancho, Heineken USA Brand Manager, Hispanic Markets. “Because of our parallel commitment to raising awareness and funds for music education programs in our communities, Heineken expresses its commitment to keep Celia’s dream alive.”

Omer Pardillo, President of The Celia Cruz Foundation expressed, “We are truly honored to have Heineken and LARAS supporting us in this most noble cause of enabling and furthering music education. We at the Celia Cruz Foundation feel proud, that through this donation we can become a vehicle of support to those who deserve it. In doing this, the memory
of Celia Cruz, who dedicated her whole life to song, will forever live in our hearts.”

“Like our partners at Heineken and The Celia Cruz Foundation, the Latin Recording Academy understands the important role that music education plays in the development of students everywhere,” said Gabriel Abaroa, President of the Latin Recording Academy. “We are dedicated to this noteworthy collaboration, and applaud Heineken for spearheading a program that will benefit so many future artists and honors our Salsa Queen.”
