Miller Lite announced that it would hold for the first-time a national Hispanic boxing promotion. In its continued effort to support the growing Hispanic population and bring them closer to the sports they love, Miller Lite, DISH Network and Univision have joined forces to create a unique Hispanic promotion featuring the sport of boxing and the premiere Spanish-language TV boxing program: Sólo Boxeo.

Miller Lite’s “La Combinación Ganadora” (The Winning Combination), asks legal-drinking-age boxing aficionados nationwide (except California, because of state regulations) to participate in a promotion that promises Grand Prize winners a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend the weekend with top Hispanic boxer Fernando Vargas. The promotion runs Aug. 1 through Sept. 30, 2001.

“Miller Lite is thrilled to be able to reach out to Hispanic boxing fans and offer to them an interactive promotion that will give them the opportunity to enjoy the sport they love, with an incredible boxing experience as a prize,” said Pedro Berrueco, Miller Lite promotions manager. “It’s time to recognize and affirm the Hispanic’s passion for boxing. ‘La Combinación Ganadora’ aims to do just that.”

Beginning August 1, boxing fans of legal drinking age from throughout the country, can participate in Miller Lite’s “La Combinación Ganadora” in three ways: 1) by collecting game cards found on Miller Lite packages, 2) by collecting Miller Lite game cards at participating bars and restaurants, or 3) by logging on to www.MillerLite.com.

Each game card showcases a boxing scene from a well-known Sólo Boxeo match, the round and time it occurred and the prize available. After collecting the game cards, participants can then tune-in to Sólo Boxeo between Aug. 12 and Sept. 30 and watch for the Miller Lite promotional spots featuring the winning boxing scene. If the participant’s game card matches the action and time in the clip, they are eligible to enter for a chance to win the prize shown on the game card. Participants then have to mail their game card(s) to the address provided for a chance to win one of the prizes. All winners will be selected randomly and be notified by mail.

Two Grand Prizes are available to be won. The winners and a guest will receive a Miller Lite Boxing Fantasy Experience for a weekend, including a private boxing clinic with Fernando Vargas at his training camp in Big Bear, Calif. Vargas is a Miller Lite spokesperson, helping the company deliver its message about the importance of making responsible choices about alcohol consumption.

In addition, 200 first-place winners will receive state-of-the art satellite TV Satellite System (Satellite TV System 200) provided and installed by Dish Network ® with a full-year of DISH Latino Dos Programming courtesy of Miller Lite. One-hundred second place winners will receive an autographed boxing glove in a specially designed carrying case, and 400 third-place winners will get Miller Lite’s “La Combinación Ganadora” T-shirts.

Sólo Boxeo airs every Sunday on Univision from 3 to 4 pm EST.
