Univision 41 ‘GOAL’ Contest — World Cup Fever.

No fewer than 89 games of the quadrennial World Cup soccer championship will be seen in the New York TV viewing area on the Spanish-language stations of Univision (WXTV Channel 41), its sister network, Telefutura (WFUT Channel 68 and WFTY Channel 67), and companion cable network Galavision between May 31 and June 30, 2002. To boost viewer interest in the upcoming soccer matches Univision 41 has developed a viewer participation contest with a soccer theme.

Every day during the May sweep period (April 25 to May 22, 2002) Univision 41 will broadcast a fifteen second World Cup promo at two hour intervals between 6 am and 11:30 pm. The promo will reveal a “winner” spot and a “loser” spot. The “winner” spot will feature a soccer goal being scored. The “loser” spot will show the failed attempt at a goal.

To enter, viewers should note the day they saw the “winner” spot and the title of the program in which it was seen. That information, together with name, address, and telephone number should be sent to May de Golazo (May of Goals), P.O. Box 2039, Teaneck, NJ, 07666. The contest is open to residents of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania who are at least 18 years old on April 25.

Each Friday for three weeks (May 3, 10, & 17) during “Noticias 41 al Despertar” (Channel 41 News at Dawn), seen from 6 am to 7 am, a weekly winner of $1,410 will be selected at random and announced. On Wednesday, May 22, the last day of the May sweep, a grand prize winner of $10,410 will be selected and announced on the 11 pm edition of “Noticias 41,” Univision 41’s late local news with anchors Rafael Pineda and Denisse Oller.
