Hugo Sanchez Joins Radio Unica Sports Team.

International soccer legend Hugo Sanchez has joined Radio Unica’s sports team. Effective January 2001, Hugo Sanchez will provide commentary and analysis for the network’s special World Cup programming and its exclusive broadcast of major soccer tournaments.

Working closely with Jorge Ramos, Radio Unica’s highly respected sportscaster and journalist, Sanchez will bring his unique and relevant views to Hugo en Unica, a newly created program which will air on Mondays from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. PST/10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. EST.

Radio Unica also announced that special World Cup programming “El Mundial al Despertar” (Wake up to the World Cup) will air during World Cup, coast to coast. This program will feature scores from the games that were played overnight, plus details and in depth analysis of the players and the tournament. As with all Radio Unica programming, listeners will be able to call the network’s toll-free phone number (800) 522-1235 and interactively participate live with Jorge Ramos, Hugo Sanchez, and the Radio Unica sports team. A segment previewing upcoming games will also be included.

Sanchez has starred for Real Madrid and Mexico during a career as one of the world’s most prolific strikers in the 1980s. Mexican born, Sanchez is acclaimed as Mexico’s greatest player of all time and is an exciting and prolific goal scorer everywhere he’s played. Among his accolades, he has won seven Spanish league-scoring titles at Atletico de Madrid and Real Madrid, and has represented Mexico at the 1978, 1986 and 1994 World Cups.
