Telemundo Network receives Key to Miami-Dade County.

Telemundo (Telemundo Television Studios LLC) received the prestigious Key to the County awarded by The Beacon Council. At a ceremony held at the auditorium of the Bank of America Tower at International Place in downtown Miami, the Spanish-language network was honored for its continued commitment and significant contribution to the South Florida economy through its established production facility in the Miami-Dade area.

During this annual ceremony, organized by the Beacon Council, Miami-Dade’s Official Economic Development Partnership, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez presented the Key to the County to Don Browne, president of Telemundo, and Derek Bond, executive vice president Telemundo Studios, for expanding the network’s business operations in Miami-Dade County.

“This award is especially meaningful as we celebrate 20 years delivering some of the best performances of our history,” said Browne. “I’m both deeply honored and grateful for this award which further underscores Telemundo’s 100% commitment to the Hispanic market and our goal of becoming an industry leader, while creating opportunities and jobs for thousands of Hispanics in the U.S.”

The honor comes on the heels of Telemundo having taken full ownership of its Miami production studios and the creation of the new international division, Telemundo Internacional. The network’s Spanish-language production of original content has invested close to $20 million a year in the South Florida Economy. Since 2003, Telemundo Studios has produced in Miami an average of two novelas a year in addition to other genres including series (Decisiones) and weekend prime time programming (Seguro y Urgente). The production facilities encompass five studios and 115,000 square feet of office space.
