Telemundo 47’s strong NSI performance in both November and December 2000 provided a strong head start for the new year. On a Monday-Friday sign on to sign off basis, Telemundo 47 is pacing at +200% over January 2000.

Noticiero 47-6PM, the station’s award-winning signature newscast is up 300% versus last January, and has also increased its household rating +9% versus the last sweep period, November 2000. The Late News telecast at 11PM is also showing significant gains, +83% versus last January, and +57% versus November 2000. With the introduction of a new newscast at 6AM (Noticiero Primera Edicion), Telemundo 47 now has 2 ½ hours of local news each day, the most for any Spanish station in the market. Also attracting a large audience is Hechos Puebla, (Saturdays 12-1230p) a half-hour newscast about Mexico, improving the time period a whopping 900%

In prime time, the telenovelas, with their exciting, dramatic and multi-cultural story lines are proving to be winners. Betty La Fea is averaging 180,000 HHs on a given evening, up +18% versus its performance in November and +20% versus October, the last two sweep periods. Terra Nostra, a story of Italian immigrants finding a home in Brazil is also landing on top, increasing its initial month on the air by 36% and each week attracting an ever-growing audience.

Other show demonstrating gains were Cotorreando (+600%), Laura en America (+467%), Ocurrio Asi (+333%), Santo Domingo Invita (+1000%) and the new La Corte del Pueblo in the afternoons (+200%).
