Univision 41 Beats Dan Rather.

“Noticiero Univision,” the Spanish-language newscast on UHF-TV station Univision 41 (WXTV) in New York, beat the “CBS Evening News” with Dan Rather for a second straight day last night (Wed., Jan. 24) in New York’s overnight Nielsen ratings.

“Noticiero Univision” with anchors Jorge Ramos and Maria Elena Salinas, the weekday evening newscast of the Spanish-language Univision Television Network, seen locally from 6:30 pm to 7 pm Eastern Time on Univision 41, scored a 3.2 Nielsen Station Index (NSI) household rating and 6 share last night to edge out the “CBS Evening News” on WCBS-TV Channel 2 for the second consecutive day. The CBS news program scored a 3.1/6 NSI rating/share. On Tuesday, January 23, “Noticiero Univision” beat the “CBS Evening News” locally, 3.5/6 NSI to 3.4/6. Tuesday and Wednesday are the first, two day streak since August 24 and 25, 2000, in which “Noticiero Univision” has beaten one of the signature evening news programs of one of America’s three major broadcast TV networks in the overnight ratings for New York, America’s largest TV market.

In a related development, the Univision novela, “Locura de Amor” (Crazy in Love), seen locally from 7 pm to 8 pm (the prime time access hour) scored its second highest rating of all time last night. “Locura de Amor” scored 5.2/9 NSI, only a tenth of a rating point behind its all-time high of 5.3 NSI, scored on January 16, 2001.

Each New York Nielsen Station Index rating point represents 69,356.1 TV households.
