Telemundo’s ‘Alerta Digital’ revs up for 100 day countdown.

Nov-11-2008

Telemundo announced it is entering the 100-Day Countdown of “Alerta Digital,” the network’s company-wide sponsored national public service awareness campaign to educate its viewers on the upcoming digital television transition. This final effort of the campaign focuses on re-iterating the options consumers have to successfully make the transition from analog to digital television.

This final push urges viewers to take action prior to the February 2009 transition deadline. The network is working with stations to secure PSAs which are being rolled out the week of November 10, and the campaign involves key network talent, including Maria Celeste, Pedro Sevcec and Natalia Villaveces, Candela Ferro, Monica Noguera, Jessie Lozada, Elizabeth Gutierrez, Martin Karpan and Karla Monroig. The educational campaign continues to support and promote the Government coupon program and provide insight on how to apply for a coupon. Telemundo will also be promoting a countdown to the transition both on-air and online, with viewers being directed to www.TelemundoDTV.com where they can find content related to the shift.

In addition, Telemundo has produced a 30-minute special, “Alerta Digital,” which will air on Sunday, November 30. The special incorporates Telemundo personalities, including Karim Mendiburu and Natalia Villaveces, among others, and serves as a vehicle to educate consumers and utilize Telemundo stars to create a message that resonates with the network’s audience.

All Telemundo shows have assumed a more active role in the “Alerta Digital” campaign starting in the month of November, with sports anchors appearing in vignettes as a part of regular sports programming and live during weekend game broadcasts and “Levántate” airing transition-related segments each Friday. Local stations continue to be active in their communities and augment the network’s efforts by involving their local anchors in the campaign, adding content to their local programs and news coverage focusing on the transition and participating in local events and coupon drives.

With Natalia Villaveces (Nitido) as its spokesperson, the campaign launched on Sunday, February 17, 2008 and has served as the countdown to the February, 17, 2009 switch from an analog to digital broadcasting system nationwide.
