Univision presents “Un Gancho al Corazón” (A Blow to the Heart) on Monday, June 22, 2009; 7:00 p.m. ET/PT (6:00 p.m. Central) ; a romantic and humorous story set in the world of boxing where no punches are pulled and the gloves come off when it comes to love. From the producer of the smash-hit “Al Diablo con los Guapos” (Down with the Beautiful), “Un Gancho al Corazón’s” cast is led by telenovela heartthrob Sebastián Rulli (“Pasión,” “Rubí”), the talented Laisha Wilkins (“Mujeres Asesinas,” “Bajo la Misma Piel”) and the beautiful Colombian actress, Danna García as female boxer Valentina “La Monita” López.
After losing a fight for the first time, female boxer Valentina “La Monita” López (Danna García) must put her promising career on hold. This is really bad news, especially for her immature and lazy boyfriend/manager, Beto (Raúl Araiza), who believes “La Monita” is his ticket out of poverty. Unable to fight for a while, Valentina looks for a job at Sermeño Group where she meets former racecar driver and company owner, Mauricio Sermeño (Sebastián Rulli), who is immediately “knocked-out” by her beauty.
Meanwhile, Mauricio’s ambitious fiancée Constanza (Laisha Wilkins) notices “La Monita’s” potential as a rival and does everything in her power to keep Mauricio as far away from her as she can. To help her on this mission, and to ensure she won’t lose her boyfriend or his fortune, she will enlist the help of Mauricio’s cousin, Jerónimo Sermeño (Agustín Arana) who is jealous of Mauricio’s success and wealth. Additionally, Constanza will also make an alliance of convenience with Beto who, despite being madly in love with Valentina, gets mixed-up in a hilarious love/hate relationship with Constanza that leads to some very surprising consequences.
But despite all the obstacles, neither “La Monita” nor Mauricio will throw in the towel, fighting on against all odds to go the distance for love.
