Revolucion finalist in PR News Competition for HBO Latino.

Aug-26-2009

PR News has named Revolucion as a finalist in the 2009 Platinum PR Awards in the category of Multicultural Campaign for its work on behalf of HBO Latino. The New York-based agency led a nationwide media relations campaign in advance of the fall 2008 premiere of “Capadocia”, a 13-episode series about a women’s prison in Mexico City. The Platinum PR Awards are a highly competitive program that honors the best PR campaigns and initiatives of the year. Revolucion is one of seven agencies nominated in the Multicultural Campaign category.

“The opportunity to work on such an exciting property with the series’ actors allowed us to create a compelling media relations program,” says Kerri Allen, director of public relations for Revolucion. “We are honored to be nominated for this prestigious award alongside some of the public relations industry’s foremost leaders.”

“It is remarkable how far the PR discipline has come in the past few years in terms of impacting an organization's bottom line and reputation,” says Diane Schwartz, vice president and group publisher of PR News. “This year's finalists in the Platinum PR Awards reinforce how powerful public relations is in moving the needle.”

To promote HBO Latino’s U.S. premiere of “Capadocia”, a national red-carpet screening tour was created with People en Español and CoverGirl cosmetics. Interviews with series stars, including CoverGirl spokesmodel Ana de la Reguera, piqued the interest of Spanish-language media.

The “Capadocia” stars were featured on seven TV programs, including the nationally-syndicated shows Escándalo TV and Al Rojo Vivo; New York’s #1 Spanish-language radio show, El Vacilón de la Mañana; the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the U.S., La Opinión; and general market outlets such as The Los Angeles Times and Time.com.
