Azteca America premieres Contrato de Amor

Azteca America announced the premiere of the telenovela Contrato de Amor, starring Leonardo García and Ximena Rubio.  The series tells the story of Gabriel and Ana Cristina, two young people forced into a marriage of financial convenience.  Together they will learn that love is stronger than any business deal.

In Contrato de Amor, Ana Cristina (Ximena Rubio) is a young woman recovering from a painful break-up.  Her greedy mother Patricia (Alejandra Maldonado) tries to force her into marrying a millionaire in order to afford the luxurious and lavish lifestyle that has recently become out of reach for her family.  Some time later, she meets Gabriel (Leonardo García), son of Fernando Escandón, the wealthy owner of a high-class hotel.

Although Ana Cristina refuses to marry anyone for money, Patricia convinces her daughter that this is best for her and the family.  Ana Cristina and Gabriel have a quick civil ceremony, fulfilling Patricia’s goal to join high society once again.

Soon, Gabriel comes to believe that Ana Cristina has only married him for his wealth.  He devises a plan that will help him determine if he is right.  Gabriel misleads his wife and makes her believe that he is not a millionaire’s son at all, but is instead an employee of the hotel.  He refuses to grant Ana Cristina a divorce and forces her to live on his earnings as a hotel employee.  Through this living situation, they both come to realize that what makes a couple strong is love, not money.

Produced by Pedro Luévano and Emilia Lamonte, Contrato de Amor stars Leonardo García, Ximena Rubio, Alejandra Maldonado, Eugenio Montesoro, Álvaro Guerrero and Armando Torrea, among many other great actors.  Contrato de Amor is a telenovela based on the hit from Azteca Novelas Catalina y Sebastián (1999) which starred Silvia Navarro and Sergio Basañez.
