Telemundo Deportes to LiveStream the EA Sports FIFA 20 Stay & Play Cup

Telemundo Deportes will present  Spanish-language coverage of the EA SportsTM FIFA 20 Stay and Play Cup starting Wednesday, April 15 through Sunday, April 19. The tournament will livestream on the Telemundo Deportes app, TelemundoDeportes.com and Telemundo Deportes’ Twitter, Facebook, Twitch and Youtube, starting Wednesday at noon ET.  

The EA Sports FIFA 20 Stay and Play Cup will consist of a knockout tournament that brings together 19 of the most famous and historic clubs in Europe as they go head-to-head playing FIFA 20 from April 15-19. The tournament will feature professional soccer stars nominated by each participating club, including:  Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool, Mendy from Manchester City, Aurier from Tottenham, Vinicius Jr. from Real Madrid, Joao Felix from Atletico de Madrid, Bernat from PSG, and Kluvert from A.S. Roma, among many others.

“We are committed to continue serving our sports fans with entertaining live and original content during this challenging period,” said Ray Warren, President of Telemundo Deportes. “We are excited to add the Stay and Play Cup to our esports offering, giving fans the opportunity to experience the thrill of their favorite clubs and stars playing while leagues are on hiatus.”

Telemundo Deportes’ experts Sammy Sadovnik and Eduardo Biscayart will lead coverage. Randy Romero will call the action while Telemundo Deportes’ streamers will participate in the livestream as special guests. Titulares y Más’ co-host and expert Karim Mendiburu will serve as the host of the coverage.

The tournament will feature a total of 19 matches, including four daily games Wednesday through Saturday starting at noon ET. Sunday’s coverage will feature three matchups starting at 1 p.m. ET and culminating with the Gand Final at 2:30 p.m. ET. Livestream of the tournament will be complemented by special segments across Telemundo Deportes’ programming including Titulares y Más and Zona Mixta, and via short-form content across all digital platforms, featuring game highlights, results and players’ reaction.

The tournament is part of EA’s “Stay Home, Play Together.” initiative, that brings together and encourages the sharing of creative content, livestreams and other ways to bring the gaming community together while staying safe by staying home.

As part of Telemundo Deportes’ efforts to continue providing fans with entertaining content, the sports division is also launching a new online series led by on-air talent to serve sports fans at home with daily, fun interactive programming. The new content offering will feature interviews with athletes and guests from the sports and entertainment world. The series include a special with Zona Mixta’s duo Miguel Gurwitz and Carlos Hermosillo,  Ask me Anything, an interview series featuring Telemundo Deportes’ on-air talent, and fun segments featuring motivational challenges for sports fans.

Confesiones de Cuarentena

Telemundo Deportes’ digital programming extends with a special series hosted by Zona Mixta’s duo, Sports Emmy winner Miguel Gurwitz and Mexican soccer legend, Carlos Hermosillo. The show is available on the Telemundo Deportes App with new episodes available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, highlighting the latest topics on sports, as well as special guests from the world of soccer, journalism and entertainment who are challenged to answer rapid fire questions and shared experiences during their times at home.  Some featured interviews include Diego Forlán, Claudio Borghi, José Díaz-Balart, Raúl de Blasio, Alberto del Río, Miguel Herrera, Ricardo Peláez, Luis Roberto Alves “Zague” and Amaury Vergara.

Ask Me Anything Interview Series

Telemundo Deportes is releasing a series of new short-form video interviews led by top sports talent that present editorial content to viewers in a unique, easy-to-watch format starting on Monday, April 13. Sergio Pérez, Carlos Alberto “Pibe” Valderrama, Sebastian Abreu and Christian “Chaco” Jiménez will be among the guests featured. Interviews will be available every day via the Telemundo Deportes app, YouTube and telemundodeportes.com. Each episode will be anchored by a Telemundo Deportes on-air expert including Andres Cantor, Manuel Sol, Sammy Sadovnik, Copan Alvarez and Eduardo Biscayart.

El Reto con Frederik

Other digital initiatives include “El Reto con Frederik,” a week-long challenge tailored for Telemundo Deportes sports talent including Sammy Sadovnik, Manuel Sol, Copán Álvarez, Eduardo Biscayart, Miguel Gurwitz, Carlos Hermosillo and Ana Jurka. The challenges will range from exercises at home to house cleaning and fun projects to make home feel more motivating and interactive. The program will be available starting Monday, April 13 via Facebook and the Telemundo Deportes App.
