The Univision Network announced it will air its 2nd Annual “TeletónUSA,” a 28-hour telethon featuring more than 100 Hispanic superstars and television personalities uniting the community in support of children with disabilities, cancer and autism in the United States. Under the slogan “Héroes con Corazón” (Heroes with a Heart), this year's event follows the spectacularly successful initial effort that reached nearly 14 million viewers and raised nearly double the first telethon’s goal for a total of $ 15,215,028 million dollars. Through inspiring stories, personal testimonies, and memorable performances from top Latino talent, “TeletónUSA” will work to surpass last year's total, if by only a dollar, and change lives. It will be broadcast on the Univision Network from December 13 at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT to December 15 at 2 a.m. ET/ 11 p.m. PT. The full event will also be streamed LIVE at univision.com/teletonusa
Picking up where last year’s Teletón broadcast left off, a multi-city “Tour of Giving” was launched to put donor gifts into action to develop and/or renovate some of the most modern and necessary medical programs and facilities in the nation. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Children´s Hospital Los Angeles, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, and Boston Children’s Hospital. The seventh and final leg of the campaign took place in San Antonio where “TeletónUSA” and Univision broke ground on a new children’s rehabilitation center called “Centro de Rehabilitación Infantil Teletón, Texas” (CRIT Texas).
Once again, the telethon will be hosted by the legendary host of Univision’s top-rated variety show “Sábado Gigante” and founder of Teletón Chile and President of ORITEL (International Telethons Organization), Mario Kreutzberger better known as “Don Francisco,” along with internationally renowned actress and singer Lucero, Univision News anchor Jorge Ramos, “Hoy” co-host Galilea Montijo, and “Despierta América” co-host Raúl González. In addition, “TeletónUSA” will feature an impressive participation of Univision talent and beloved Latin show business personalities who will appear via satellite from Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Puerto Rico and San Antonio.
In it’s second outing, “TeletónUSA” will feature even more performances and special appearances by A-list stars who have signed on to lend their time and talent to help raise money and awareness for this worthy cause.
