Telemundo Deportes presents FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018

Telemundo Deportes presents exclusive coverage of the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2018, featuring some of the world’s best players and club teams, beginning Wednesday, December 12.

Organized by FIFA, the elite club soccer tournament brings together the champion clubs from each of the six continental confederations and the national league champion of the host country.

The event will air live across Telemundo, Universo, the Telemundo Deportes app and NBC Sports app beginning with the opening match on Wednesday, December 12 at 10:25 a.m. ET.

The coverage will be led by Telemundo Deportes’ Andrés Cantor, Manuel Sol, Carlos Hermosillo, Copan Alvarez, Sammy Sadovnik and Eduardo Biscayart. Pablo Aguabella will travel to Abu Dhabi to provide sideline reporting for select matches and present news, updates and special reports from site. Telemundo Deportes’ digital and social media platforms will also provide comprehensive content throughout the tournament.

In anticipation of the FIFA Club World Cup, Telemundo Deportes will present live coverage of the controversial Boca-River second leg of the Copa Libertadores Final, live from Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid on Sunday, December 9 at 2:00 p.m. ET. The matchup will be broadcast on Telemundo and stream via Telemundo Deportes app and NBC Sports app with a special pre-game show prior to the matchup.

This year’s tournament will take place in two host cities – Al Ain City and Abu Dhabi – and will feature the world’s top clubs in a seven matchup event. Already confirmed to participate is current UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid, CONCACAF Champions CD Guadalajara, CAF Champions League winners Espérances S. De Tunis, OFC Champions League winners Team Wellington FC, Kashima Antlers who won the AFC Champions League title and Al Ain FC, representing the host country. The Copa Libertadores winner will also qualify once River Plate meets Boca Juniors at the Santiado Bernabeu in Madrid for second leg matchup.

In the current format of the tournament, the host nation’s national champions face off the Oceania champions, from which the winner joins the champions of Asia, Africa and North America at the quarter-finals. The quarter-final winners go on to face the European and South American champions, who enter at the semi-final stage, for a place in the final to become the champion of champions.
