UEFA Champions League Comes to Univision Deportes

Univision Deportes begins its tenure as the official Spanish-language broadcaster of UEFA this month, highlighted by coverage of club soccer’s most prestigious competition, the UEFA Champions League.

Beginning with the play-off round August 21-22 and 28-29, Univision Deportes will carry 137 Champions League matches live across its platforms, 97 of which will air on its linear networks – Univision, Univision Deportes Network (UDN), UniMás and Galavisión. The remaining matches will be exclusively available on UnivisionDeportes.com and the Univision Deportes app. Live matches will also air on Univision Deportes Radio.

The action continues September 18-19 with the start of the highly anticipated group stage, featuring megastars like Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Luka Modrić, Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo, and Europe’s most talented sides, such as FC Barcelona, Manchester City, Juventus FC, FC Bayern München and defending champions Real Madrid, among others.

“We are thrilled that this new partnership makes La Champions available to more fútbol fans around the country,” said Juan Carlos Rodriguez, President of Univision Deportes. “As the undisputed Home of Soccer in the U.S., Univision Deportes covers fanáticos’ favorite sport 365 days a year across multiple platforms. Our unrivaled group of sports journalists and production team is prepared to deliver best-in-class coverage of the 2018-2019 UEFA competitions.”

Univision Deportes’ coverage will feature a stellar team of sportscasters, including UEFA Champions League winner and Ballon D’or 1994 Hristo Stoichkov; legendary Real Madrid and Inter de Milan striker Iván Zamorano; and iconic UEFA Champions League commentators Luis Omar Tapia and Diego Balado. Recent additions to the Univision Deportes team, including Tony Cherchi, Marc Crosas and Lucía Villalon, will also contribute to coverage of UEFA events.

Univision Deportes’ coverage of UEFA competitions officially gets under way August 15 when crosstown rivals Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid clash in the UEFA Super Cup, which features the reigning winners of the Champions League and Europa League. Beginning in September, Univision Deportes will air more than 70 Europa League games live on UDN, UniMás and Galavisión. The inaugural Nations League, featuring the national teams from the 55 member associations of UEFA competing for glory and country pride, also begins in September.
