Haiek – COO @ Cisneros Television Group.

Cisneros Television Group (CTG) announced it named Ralph Haiek as Chief Operating Officer. As previously announced, Ibero American Media Partners has agreed to combine CTG, along with other media properties, with El Sitio, Inc. LCTO to create Claxson Interactive Group, Inc. Following the combination, Haiek will oversee Claxson’s pay television businesses.

As the newly appointed COO, Haiek will be responsible for all of CTG’s day to day channel operations, as well as new channel development, affiliate and advertising sales, programming and production, marketing and research. He will also continue to oversee CTG Music, the music division he headed prior to this appointment. Haiek replaces Jay Scharer, who will continue to be a member of Playboy TV International’s Board of Directors and remain as a consultant during the transition period prior to the closing of the Claxson combination.

Commenting on Haiek’s appointment, Roberto Vivo, designated Chairman and CEO of Claxson Interactive Group, and currently Chairman and CEO of El Sitio, said: “Ralph brings to Claxson’s senior management team a set of unique creative and entrepreneurial abilities which make him the natural leader to head Claxson’s Pay TV division. He has a deep understanding of the entertainment industry in Latin America and brings a wealth of experience in the development of branded content, as he has demonstrated through the success of CTG’s Much Music throughout the region.” Vivo added, “Ralph will have to continue the excellent job done by Jay who, together with Carlos Cisneros, made CTG one of the leading entertainment companies in Ibero America.”

“My mission will be to work with Roberto Vivo to make Claxson’s Pay TV division an active player in the development of integrated branded content, entertainment, information and communication for multiple platforms targeted to Spanish and Portuguese speakers around the world,” said Haiek. “I’m very excited with this opportunity and look forward to working closely with the other Claxson divisions to maximize our synergies and make media convergence a reality in Ibero America.”

Prior to this new position, Haiek was Senior Vice President and General Manager of CTG Music, a division that brought together a critical mass of music assets reaching across all platforms by uniting CTG’s music properties Much Music Iberoamerica, HTV, AEI Music Latin America and ARTISTdirect Latin America. As head of CTG Music, Haiek was instrumental in the development of the music properties and creative efforts, as well as the roll-out of the music services, in order to offer advertisers, artists, pay TV distributors and consumers a fully integrated music package of powerful on-air and online brands to suit a broad range of Spanish and Portuguese speaking audiences.

Previously, Haiek was Chief Creative Officer for Cisneros Television Group based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Prior to working with CTG, Haiek founded MuchMusic Argentina in 1992 and was also a movie producer. He is a member of the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Inc., and founder of Promax Latino.
