The Women's Automotive Association International (WAAI) will honor Tere Zubizarreta, President and CEO of Zubi Advertising, one of the largest independent Hispanic advertising agencies in the U.S., with its "Spirit of Leadership" award at its annual luncheon on February 11th in Orlando, FL. Mrs. Zubizarreta was chosen for the esteemed award for her significant accomplishments in the automotive advertising industry and her innumerous contributions to the Hispanic community.

"I am humbled to receive this award, which I bestow in part to my entire staff at Zubi, whose passion and dedication drive our work," said Tere Zubizarreta, who founded Zubi Advertising in 1976. "I also share this honor with all the women who have worked in the automotive industry and helped pave the way for equality in the workplace."

The annual "Spirit of Leadership" awards honor women professionals who have played an important leadership role in the automotive industry. The fundraiser luncheon will be held during the 2006 National Auto Dealers Association (NADA) convention at the Rosen Plaza Hotel Orlando, and proceeds from ticket sales will help the WAAI provide scholarships for young women seeking careers in the automotive industry.

"We are honored to present this award to Tere as she is an inspiration for all women to achieve the highest level of success in a leadership role and in service to their communities," said Lorraine Schultz, Founder of the WAAI. "Our recognition of Tere and her accomplishments with Zubi highlights the opportunities available to all women in the automotive industry."

Mrs. Zubizarreta has received an array of awards in recent years for her consistent contributions to the U.S. Hispanic advertising industry throughout a career that spans nearly three decades. In 2004 alone, she received awards from the The Latin Business Association, Latin Business Magazine and the National Association of Hispanic Publications. Mrs. Zubizarreta's achievements are of particular distinction, due to her humble beginnings as a Hispanic woman with no college degree in a largely male driven, 70's corporate America. Against all odds, she opened the doors to Zubi Advertising and the rest, as they say, is "historia."

Today, along with over 100 employees, Tere has led Zubi Advertising to new and soaring levels of success, with billings in excess of $165 million in 2005, countless awards for superior creative work and a remarkable list of blue chip clients, namely American Airlines, Ford Motor Company, Lincoln Mercury, Wachovia and SC Johnson.
