Hispanic Business Gets Face Lift.

Hispanic Business Inc., publisher of Hispanic Business magazine, announced that it has teamed up with Garcia Media to modernize the magazine’s look and content. Garcia Media, which won acclaim recently for its redesign of The Wall Street Journal, is a well-known international consulting firm specializing in magazine, newspaper, Web, and corporate communication design.

Hispanic Business will unveil its new look – complete with a new color palette, logo, and other design features – in its June issue, which also features the prestigious Hispanic Business 500, a directory of the nation’s largest Hispanic-owned companies. In addition to showcasing the magazine’s award-winning content and research directories, the new format will provide greater content integration by linking stories online and in print. The new layout was undertaken to better address the needs and preferences of the magazine’s readers – busy Hispanic entrepreneurs and professionals.

“This redesign represents one of the most exciting changes for Hispanic Business since its inception,” said CEO and publisher Jesús Chavarría. “We are living in a dynamic age in which digital communication has revolutionized the way people process information. The redesign is based on this premise and will bring our readers the most relevant business content, packaged in 21st-century style.”

“We were quite honored to be involved in the redesign of Hispanic Business magazine. As a Hispanic-owned business and longtime readers, we have admired its brand of journalism and insightful content,” said Mario Garcia, president and senior designer at Garcia Media. “The new Hispanic Business has improved navigational systems to make the reading experience quicker and more substantive. This is especially important in a time when readers have multiple avenues to get information and generally want to get it faster. Add to that a more legible, attractive typeface, better use of photos and charts forming a convergence with the already present top-notch content, and what readers will see is a very dynamic business periodical.”

New features include “Government Solutions,” which provides enhanced coverage of the federal bureaucracy, and “Online,” a page devoted to HispanicBusiness.com. The latter will highlight various editorial features on the company’s Web site, including more in-depth content, streaming video, and an interactive bulletin board.

In conjunction with the magazine’s redesign, HispanicBusiness.com also is being given a fresh look. The new site is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2002.
