Joining the all-star line-up to present awards in 29 categories will be Marc Anthony, Shalim, Willy Chirino, Lissette Alvarez, Jose Maria Yazpik and Jose Angel Llamas from Telemundo’s hit novela “Cara O Cruz,” Noelia, Millie Corretjer and Graciela Beltran. Legendary Tito Puente will be honored with a special tribute that evening, along with Latin music pop sensation and novela diva Thalia, who will also be honored with the distinctive Billboard “Premio de la Estrella” award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the world of Latin music.

The only show of its kind, the Billboard Latin Music Awards is an annual event, honoring the year’s biggest and brightest stars. Finalists for the awards ceremony are chosen based on their performances on Hot Latin Tracks and The Billboard Latin 50 charts, which comprise airplay and sales. The measuring period for the nominee selection is January 30, 2000, to January 29, 2001.

The Billboard Music Awards Show caps Billboard’s Latin Music Conference, presented by Heineken and in association with HBO, which will be held April 24-26 at the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami Beach.
