AOL Brazil Teams Up With McDonald’s For Online Promotion.

America Online Latin America, Inc. announced a unique marketing promotion between its Brazilian subsidiary, AOL Brasil Ltda, and McDonald’s, one of the most popular consumer brands, in Brazil. This promotion will target and be available exclusively to AOL Brazil members via an online area featuring the “Ronald McDonald Dance” to promote McHappy Meals with desserts and its nutritional values. The AOL Brazil service and software CDs will also be prominently promoted in McDonald’s locations across Brazil.

This marketing initiative marks a first for AOL Brazil and McDonald’s in Brazil to jointly target important segments of their consumer markets using a fun-oriented online promotion. Beginning this week, AOL Brazil members will have exclusive access to the Ronald McDonald “Virtual Album” by clicking on a prominently displayed link on the AOL Brazil service or going to AOL Keyword: Album. This exclusive area will feature the popular Ronald McDonald Rock music, illustrate the special dance steps, and offer members an opportunity to collect up to 36 McDonald’s figurines during the course of the promotion. Members will also be able to participate in a series of games and other promotional activities. This promotion will end December 31, 2002.

Along with the AOL Brazil software, the CD also includes different versions of the popular Ronald McDonald Rock music, including birthday and dance remix tracks, and an audio class in which Ronald McDonald teaches kids the dance steps. The CD includes two other tracks kids will enjoy — “Did You Know?” and “Magical Words” as well as a Ronald McDonald screen saver and computer wallpaper and collectable McDonald’s figurines featuring everyone’s favorite McDonald’s characters.

AOL Brazil will donate one-third of the proceeds from the first month of this program to benefit children’s cancer program of the Ronald McDonald Institute in Brazil. The CD contains additional information about the Ronald McDonald Institute and links to other interesting sites.

As part of this promotion, AOL Brazil CD’s with registration software offering one month free-trial subscriptions will be prominently displayed in 580 McDonald’s restaurants across Brazil. In specially selected restaurants, on-site promoters will be available to register new AOL Brazil members. This promotion includes a joint print, TV and radio advertising campaign leveraging the two highly recognized brands which began this week.

Carlos Trostli, President of America Online Brazil, said: “Adding McDonald’s, one of the world’s premier consumer brands, to our growing list of marketing partners is important to our member acquisition efforts. McDonald’s has been a leader in developing creative ways to reach its customer base and we are very excited to be joining them in this unique promotion. AOL Brazil members will have exclusive access to the Virtual Album and will be able to experience the enjoyment and the unique features of AOL Brazil service.”
