Arbitron Expands Portable People Meter Marketing Team.

Arbitron Inc. announced that it has expanded its Worldwide Portable People Meter (PPM) marketing team with a new addition to the team and two promotions.

Kevin Patrick Smith has been appointed senior vice president, Cable Services and PPM Business Development. In addition, Les Tolchin has been promoted to senior vice president, PPM Business Development, and Jay Guyther has been promoted to senior vice president, International PPM Marketing.

Mr. Smith, based in Philadelphia, is responsible for managing Arbitron’s Cable Division, which markets research and business information services to the local and national cable industry. He will work closely with cable networks, local Philadelphia television stations and key national advertisers. Mr. Smith is rejoining Arbitron after serving as senior vice president of Advertising Sales, Research

Targeting with Wink Communications, where he was responsible for information services designed for leading national advertisers and advertising agencies. Mr. Smith will report to Owen Charlebois, President, U.S. Media Services for Arbitron.

Les Tolchin, will expand his role at Arbitron with his promotion to senior vice president, PPM Business Development, reporting to Marshall Snyder, president, Worldwide People Meter Development.

Mr. Tolchin, who is based in New York, will work in conjunction with Kevin Smith to promote the PPM to the senior executives at U.S. cable networks. Mr. Tolchin will also maintain and develop key relationships with senior executives in the television industry including TV groups, networks and industry associations. In addition to his new responsibilities, Mr. Tolchin will continue to serve as the senior vice president of National Radio Sales & Marketing, reporting to Scott Musgrave, senior vice president & general manager, Arbitron Domestic Radio.

An Arbitron veteran of 20 years, Jay Guyther has already begun to prepare the international market for the PPM as vice president, International Business Development. In the new position as senior vice president, International PPM Marketing, Mr. Guyther will further cultivate relationships with top executives at media information companies in major countries throughout the world. He will continue his duties as the liaison with Continental Research, a London-based unit of Arbitron Inc. that conducts market research in the media, financial and telecommunications and advertising industries. Mr. Guyther has promoted the PPM in Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America as well as advocated its particular ability to measure radio and television audiences in the emerging digital broadcasting environments around the world. Mr. Guyther is based in New York and reports to Marshall Snyder, president, Worldwide People Meter Development.
