ESPN Deportes Radio Nueva York 1050 AM launches.

ESPN Deportes Radio Nueva York 1050 AM will debut today, Friday, September 7 at 2p.m. ET. The new station goes live with a special introduction by Mike Greenberg from ESPN Radio’s Mike and Mike, followed by a welcome show hosted by ESPN Deportes Radio’s personalities. Starting at 4:00 p.m., live soccer kicks off with exclusive coverage of three consecutive World Cup Qualifiers – Colombia vs. Uruguay, followed by Argentina vs. Paraguay and Salvador vs. Guyana.
 
The launch is highlighted by an agreement with the New York Jets to carry all Jets games- pre-season, regular season and post-season- in Spanish-language for the next three seasons (2012-2014). This season, ESPN Deportes Radio 1050AM will air all 16 regular-season games live, starting with the September 9 opener against the Buffalo Bills. The Spanish-language commentary will be led by the versatile announcer, Clemson Smith Muñiz, well-known by many New Yorkers. The coverage will be highlighted by a special pre- and post-game show for each game.
 
Under the agreement, ESPN Deportes Radio 1050AM will actively support the New York Jets’ efforts to market to the Hispanic community and develop a unique collaboration during the team’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month game.

With more than 300 hours of live sports events scheduled yearly, programming for ESPN Deportes Radio Nueva York will also feature other top sporting events, including the LIVE broadcast of Dominican baseball -exclusive to New York-, CONMEBOL South American World Cup Qualifiers, CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers, Mexican First Division soccer, U.S. National Team friendlies, MLB and MLS.

Starting Monday, September 10, ESPN Deportes 1050AM will introduce two new local sports shows to better serve the Hispanic sports fan of New York with relevant content:

·         Firma ESPN, the only radio program devoted to the New York Hispanic sports fan, recapping local events and looking ahead to the day’s sports action and news. The show will be hosted by ESPN Deportes Radio’s veteran Renato Bermudez alongside the renowned Ernesto Jerez, known as the signature Spanish-language voice of MLB and his homerun catchphrase ¡…no… nono, nono, no…! ¡Dígaleque no a esa pelota!” Jorge Ebro and many other ESPN Deportes Radio experts. The interactive show will air weekdays from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

·         Zona ESPN NY, a high-energy show with high listener involvement focusing on all types of sports that interest the New York fan hosted by ESPN’s Carolina Guillen, Sebastian Christensen, along with Enrique Rojas. Each expert will bring a different perspective to the day’s big sports events, offering debates and regular interaction with fans. Zona ESPN NY will air weekdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
 
The two shows complement the comprehensive news and information content offered across ESPN Deportes Radio network, including the already established studio shows Raza Deportiva, the number one morning Spanish-language sports show; and Jorge Ramos y Su Banda, the daily soccer program simulcast on television.
