Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation has announced the managerial appointment of Jorge A. Plasencia as Vice President of Corporate Communications and Marketing. Mr. Plasencia’s responsibilities will include strategic and operational marketing, branding and communications for the company and its divisions. Additionally, he will become the corporate spokesperson for the media, both national and international, and oversee all corporate charitable activities.

Gary B. Stone, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of HBC, commenting on the appointment of Mr. Plasencia, “We are excited to welcome Jorge A. Plasencia to the HBC family. Jorge’s venerated background in Hispanic marketing together with his dynamism and experience in the fields of communications, sports and entertainment are valuable assets to the branding and positioning of our company.”

Jorge A. Plasencia was previously the Vice President of Marketing for Estefan Enterprises, Inc., a global entertainment company. At Estefan Enterprises, Inc., Plasencia was responsible for overall marketing, publicity and corporate strategy for the company’s numerous divisions, including its music publishing, recording studios, record label, restaurants, hotel, magazine, and its artist management division where he worked alongside many artists including Gloria Estefan and Shakira. He also served as corporate liaison to the national and international media, representing the company as its media spokesperson and oversaw all corporate charitable endeavors including the Gloria Estefan Foundation. Prior to joining Estefan Enterprises, Inc., Plasencia made history as the first Director of Hispanic Marketing for the Florida Marlins Baseball Club. Due to his vision and keen efforts, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce awarded Plasencia and the Team the prestigious Hispanic Marketer of the Year Award. Prior to his tenure with the Florida Marlins, Plasencia served in various capacities within Spanish-language radio in South Florida including Director of Marketing and Promotions for WAQI(AM), WRTO(FM) and WQBA(AM/FM).
