After 35 days of political and legal uncertainty in this country in the 2000 general election, President Elect George W. Bush will consummate his electoral victory by beginning his tenure as the 43rd President of the United States on Saturday, January 20th. Starting Monday, January 15, KMEX-TV will present “El Día del Cambio” [The Day of Change] during its four editions of “Noticias 34” at 5:00 a.m., 6 a.m., 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. The station’s special team coverage will culminate on Inauguration Day in this nation’s capital with live coverage of the ceremony commencing at 8 a.m.

Washington D.C. Coverage

Rosa María Villalpando, political reporter for KMEX-TV, will inform viewers live via satellite from Washington, D.C. regarding the California delegates and the Latino families that will be present on that historical day and a brief background on the individuals that will head the presidential cabinet. In addition, KMEX-TV Washington D.C. correspondent Lorna Virgili will present details on the meticulous preparations for the day as well as cover the President’s inaugural speech.

“Noticias 34” local team coverage will include special guests that will comment on the highlights of the day’s events and will offer an analysis on the topics that will most affect Southern California’s vast Latino population under the new Bush administration.
