Univision & UC Berkeley establish News Bureau

Univision News announced that it has entered into an unprecedented partnership with the University of California at Berkeley aimed at establishing a news bureau at the University.

In a collaborative effort intended to generate original content and coverage for Univision News and its new venture, Fusion, UC Berkeley’s Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) will begin working closely with Univision to identify university-related speakers, activities, and events covering topics that could be of interest to Univision’s audience, as well as build a database of experts from Berkeley whose work and/or expertise could be valuable for Univision and Fusion’s programming.

The alliance marks the initial step in a joint plan to set up a fully operational news bureau at UC Berkeley, a pioneering initiative that could lead to the creation of similar bureaus in other universities across the nation.

“This is a unique collaboration. Partnering with an academic institution as prestigious as UC Berkeley is not only an honor for Univision News and Fusion, but also speaks to our steadfast commitment to driving innovation in the field of broadcast journalism,” stated Isaac Lee, president of Univision News and CEO of Fusion. “Establishing an official news bureau housed within a major university campus is a truly groundbreaking effort and we’re extremely proud to be one of the first media organizations to do it.”
