Telemundo Deportes plans for Copa America 2019

Telemundo Deportes released initial details of its 2019 Copa America coverage plans. As the exclusive Spanish-language home of the tournament taking place in Brazil June 14-July 7, Telemundo Deportes will present all 26 matches live in Spanish on Telemundo, Universo, and Telemundo Deportes’ app and digital platforms. Telemundo Deportes will offer the most extensive Spanish-language coverage ever across all its media platforms, ensuring the most robust viewing experience for all soccer fans.

During Thursday’s Draw in Rio de Janeiro, the 10 South American nations and guests Japan and Qatar learned their fate for this summer’s Copa America. Host country Brazil was at the top of the pot with rivals Argentina and Uruguay determining the three groups based on the FIFA world ranking. Brazil will face Bolivia, Venezuela and Peru in Group A. This year, Brazil is under the microscope as the host city has not won a Copa America since 2007 and fell short during the 2014 World Cup which they also hosted. Argentina, who has not won a Copa America since 1993, will face Colombia, Paraguay and Qatar in Group B. Also being closely watched are Chile, the winner of the last two Copa America titles, and Uruguay, the holder of the most Copa America titles, who will go head to head in Group C along with Ecuador and Japan.

“Telemundo Deportes’ ‘Summer of Soccer’ continues to take shape as last Thursday we learned the group stage lineup for the Copa America 2019,” said Ray Warren, President of Telemundo Deportes. “As the home of the Biggest, Best Global Sports, we are looking forward to showcasing the best of CONMEBOL and South American soccer combined with our extensive multi-platform coverage of FIFA Women’s World Cup which takes place across the same dates and in different time zones. Over the course of one month we will be providing extensive coverage from two continents, presenting 78 matches and starring 36 teams with the best players in the world.”
