D-backs to be broadcast ESPN Deportes 710 AM in Phoenix.

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced they have reached an agreement in principle, pending Major League Baseball approval, with Entravision Communications Corporation on a three-year contract to broadcast D-backs games in Spanish on ESPN Deportes 710 AM, according to D-backs’ President & CEO Derrick Hall.

All 162 regular-season D-backs games will be broadcast in Spanish on ESPN Deportes 710 AM. ESPN Deportes 710 AM will also broadcast additional Spring Training exhibition games that will be announced at a later date and any playoff games if the D-backs qualify for postseason play.

“Transitioning our Spanish-language broadcasts to ESPN Deportes 710 AM will allow us to better communicate with D-backs fans in the Hispanic community,” Hall said. “Not only will fans be able to listen to D-backs games on Phoenix’s only all-sports Spanish-language station, but Entravision Communications Corporation will enable us to promote our product through each of the radio stations that are members of their powerful cluster. The new working relationship also allows us to inform our fans that prefer to listen in Spanish about our numerous community-based programs and ways they can enjoy the fan experience at Chase Field.”

Oscar Soria, who is one of the most respected baseball commentators in the Hispanic community after serving as a D-backs broadcaster for the past 12 seasons and for the Hermosillo Naranjeros of the Mexican Winter League for the past 23 seasons, will again team up with longtime partners Miguel Quintana and Richard Saenz in the broadcast booth to describe the action in Spanish this season.

“We are extremely excited to join the Arizona Diamondbacks as partners,” said Chris Moncayo, General Manager of Entravision Communication Corporation’s radio stations in Phoenix. “The D-backs organization understands the importance and significance of reaching the Hispanic community. Now, we have the opportunity as partners to continue to increase the community’s level of awareness and participation with ESPN Deportes 710 AM while utilizing the power of our other FM stations, La Tricolor 103.5 and Jose 106.9 and 107.1. ESPN represents the best-known brand in sports programming and will now offer year-round local sports programming with the D-backs and the Arizona Cardinals, who will be entering their seventh season with us in 2011.”
