Miami Ad School opens in Punta Cana, D.R.

Miami Ad School continues to expand its footprint, this time near another beautiful Caribbean beach in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The mission: make Miami Ad School Punta Cana the epicenter of creativity and innovation for Central America and the Caribbean.

“Investing our time and energy in future generations of communication professionals is not only our responsibility but our duty,” says Luis Miguel Messianu, Chairman of the Advisory Board for MAS Punta Cana and CEO Creative Chairman of ALMA, which he also founded in 1994.

Messianu and eight professionals from the region represent every different facet of the industry – agency, academia, media, and consultancy. The team is comprised of Rodolfo Borrell of Pages BBDO, Dominican Republic; Freddy Jana of OgilvyRD, Dominican Republic; Thelma Castan of MullenLowe Interamerica, Dominican Republic; Grizelle De Los Reyes of FIU, Miami; Jaime Rosado of JWT, Puerto Rico; Jorge Martinez of AdLatina; Cynthia McFarlane of All In, Miami; and Chairman Luis Miguel Messianu of ALMA, Miami.

Since millennials are spending far more on education than previous generations (partly due to the exploding cost of higher education) and the median household student debt tripled between 1989 and 2013, one of the first long-term objectives for the board is to make the school tuition-free. They also envision providing students with the creative tools, space, and freedom to achieve their goals without compromising on a quality education and ethics standards. Diversity among the staff and student body will also be a top priority for the board to work toward. Beginning in October, they will be putting together a plan of action in preparation for the official launch of the school.

“Luis Miguel is a true example of responsibility, integrity and generosity. I am confident that under his leadership, these qualities will always be present on the board and in all the activities we develop,” predicts Jose-Guillermo Diaz, Director of MAS Punta Cana.
