Alex Lopez Negrete Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award.

Alex Lopez Negrete, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Creative Director of the Houston based Lopez Negrete Communications, was honored Thursday, March 20th with its first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award by the Houston Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT). The dinner and award ceremony, held at the Houstonian, opened with the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award by describing the honoree as “above reproach” in regard to his commitment to the hiring and advancement of women and minorities. A video highlighted his 18 years of professional and community achievements including interviews with colleagues and coworkers. This award also recognizes his personal achievements and direct impact on the Houston business and broadcast communities.

“I am honored and humbled to be recognized by such a respected group of peers and colleagues with the first Lifetime Achievement Award, both mine and theirs,” said Lopez Negrete. “I share this award with my wife and business partner, Cathy. Without her, Lopez Negrete Communications would not have been possible, thus this award is as much hers as it is mine.”

” Alex fully represents a commitment to excellence and we are proud to recognize him as the first honoree of the Lifetime Achievement Award,” said Lori Clark, President of the Houston chapter of AWRT. ” His accomplishments are an inspiration to those in the business and broadcast communities, as far as what we’re all striving to achieve. He has set the bar very high for future recipients.”

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes Alex’s accomplishments in the areas of the hiring and promotion of women and minorities; promoting and helping the broadcast business; his direct contributions to the Houston community at large; and the degree of his direct, positive impact on the broadcast community.

“Alex has a distinct vision for his work. His agency is intertwined with the city’s progress, as he works tirelessly to raise the consciousness and standards of performance within the community at the local, grassroots and national level,” said Cyndy Garza Roberts, Marketing Director for KTRK-TV, ABC. “Very frankly, Alex has had a direct impact on what the broadcast community in Houston, looks like today. Without his contributions, Houston’s broadcast community may have looked very different.”

As cofounders, Alex and his partner and wife, Cathy Lopez Negrete, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, built Lopez Negrete Communications into Houston’s premier, national Hispanic marketing firm and the fourth largest independent Hispanic Agency, nationally. Alex and Cathy attribute the agency’s success to their team of multi-cultural, multi-national, bilingual and bicultural communication professionals who possess complementary talents and diverse expertise. The success of the agency is a testament to the hard work, commitment and love of the craft exhibited by their team, on a daily basis.

“Alex’s never-ending commitment to and relentless promotion of Spanish-language broadcast with his clients and the general market news media has laid the groundwork for the development and legitimacy of the Hispanic broadcast business in Houston and across the country,” added Garza Roberts.
