San Antonio Silver Stars Shine With Creative Civilization.

The San Antonio Silver Stars will sport a new look, or rather logo, when players of the new Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) team take to the court in May.

Creative Civilization – An Aguilar/Girard Agency, which also handles advertising for the San Antonio Spurs and San Antonio Rampage, created a team logo for the Silver Stars along with a broad advertising campaign.

The logo features the team’s name in silver-and-black along with a shooting star. It was approved by the WNBA to be used by the Silver Stars on advertising, promotional materials and team jerseys.

The marketing campaign, which launched Feb. 19, features both image and retail advertising and includes three television spots, radio and print advertising, and various collateral materials.

One of three TV spots features Silver Stars players Marie Ferdinand and Jennifer Azzi in their dressing room, applying make-up and discussing new shoes – basketball shoes, that is, before Ferdinand shouts, “Its showtime!” The scene jumps to exhilarating shots of women’s pro-basketball highlights.

The tagline, “Real Women. Real Game,” was incorporated into all aspects of the new campaign for the Silver Stars to illustrate the WNBA players’ personalities on and off the court.

“The WNBA is such an exciting addition to San Antonio,” says Gisela Girard, Creative Civilization president and COO. “This logo and campaign is just the beginning of what is sure to be an exciting new basketball team in our city.”

The Silver Stars are scheduled to launch their inaugural season in May at the brand new SBC Center, San Antonio’s premier sporting and entertainment venue.
